Shops in Pontefract and Castleford offering free deliveries of essentials to the elderly and vulnerable, as result of coronavirus panic buying
BB Nevison Superstore and Post Office in Pontefract and Cutsyke Post Office have decided to offer a free delivery service to help the elderly and vulnerable members of their community get groceries and toiletries.
Bobby Singh, owner and manager at BB Nevison Superstore and Post Office, said: “I’m a Ponte lad through and through, I moved here at a very young age and I know the community well.

“I know a lot of elderly and vulnerable people and I wouldn’t like to see them go without, this is my way of supporting them and giving back to them.
“We’ve been out delivering all morning and it’s put a smile on my face, 100 per cent job satisfaction.
“If we all did our bit and had a little more consideration for others, especially our elderly and vulnerable, the world would be a better place.”

Adrian Strang, who has been the owner of the Post Office for seven years, said: “We know most of the community in the area and we do regularly see a lot older customers on a day to day basis.
“It's important that we take care of anybody who is struggling in the area to get out.
“You see some of the pictures of supermarkets and you do feel that some groups could be forgotten about, so our job is to make sure they are taken care of.”
