Controversial 183 homes plan expected to be approved
Wakefield Council’s planning and highways committee will discuss the plans to build the new estate just off Cobblers Lane in Pontefract on Thursday.
Campaigners fear the safety of pupils at nearby Holy Family and St Michael’s and Cobblers Lane primary schools could be at risk if the plans get the go ahead.

Hide AdBut the developer Linden Homes North claims 30 per cent of the properties would be affordable.
And they would help tackle the shortage of childcare places forecast in the area by contributing £46,066.
The application had been deferred by the committee in April.
But the council’s planning officers have now recommended the plans for approval.
