In fact, in the 12 months to June 2019, 13,845 people moved to Wakefield from elsewhere in the UK.
That’s according to internal migration data from the Office for National Statistics, which also reveals the areas of the country where the most people are drawn to Wakefield from.

The most common place people arrived in the area from was Leeds, with 3,863 arrivals in the year to June 2019.
2. Kirklees
The second most common place people arrived in the area from was Kirklees, with 1,636 arrivals in the year to June 2019.
3. Barnsley
The third most common place people arrived in the area from was Barnsley, with 918 arrivals in the year to June 2019.
4. Selby
The fourth most common place people arrived in the area from was Selby, with 559 arrivals in the year to June 2019.
